@MUCrusadersWBB falls to No. 15 Wildcats

LIVONIA, Mich. The Madonna University women's basketball team was a little overmatched in a 103-58 loss to 15th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University at the MU Activities Center on Tuesday night. The loss drops the Crusaders to 0-13 while the Wildcats improve to 11-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Blue and Gold got off to a good start as Sydney Brown converted a free throw and Sheldon Bochenek knocked down a jumper to take a 3-0 lead. It was short-lived though as the Wildcats used a 19-4 run to take a 12-point, 19-7, lead and never looked back. The Marion, Indiana program led 62-25 at the half.
  • The Crusaders played better in the second half as they put up 33 points, but the Wildcats put up 41 for the final margin.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nine difference Crusaders scored in the contest led by Hannah Reinhold who poured in 20 points and tied for the team lead with five rebounds
  • Cierra Von Zittwitz added eight points, five rebounds and three assists and Brown tallied six points, collected four steals and dished out three assists
  • MU finished the night 18-of-58 (31%) from the field and 4-of-12 (33.3%) from the 3-point arc while going 18-of-24 (75%) at the free throw line. Madonna netted 16 points in the paint, 11 off turnovers, eight second-chance points and grabbed 33 boards.
  • Indiana Wesleyan shot 50.7 percent (36-of-71) on the night, made 10 3-pointers and converted 20-of-26 (76.9%) at the charity stripe. The visitors grabbed 52 rebounds, netted 50 points in the paint, 23 off turnovers and 17 second-chance points.

  • The Blue and Gold will take time off for the holidays before a trip to Chicago, Illinois for the St. Xavier Christmas Classic hosted by No. 4 St. Xavier University. Madonna will face St. Xavier on Friday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. EST before squaring off with Robert Morris University (Ill.) on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. EST.
