HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Madonna won the first set 25-20 thanks to an early 5-1 scoring run that turned a 4-2 lead into a 9-3 advantage. A pair of kills from Jodie Kelly, a Olivia Sweeney service ace and a Nyla Greer termination highlighted the run and MU never trailed again in the first set.
-
The Blue and Gold pulled off an impressive set two win as a 10-3 run by the Sylvania, Ohio program put them in front 18-9 before the Crusaders came charging back. Madonna scored 17 of the final 22 points for the 26-24 win. A 5-0 run highlighted by a pair of Greer, Kelly block assists turned the momentum to the Crusaders and MU took the final three points of the set for the 2-0 lead.
-
Madonna led for a large portion of the third set but three separate four-point rallies by the Gray Wolves, which included the last four, gave the home team the 25-19 win.
-
A 9-1 run by Madonna turned a 4-3 deficit into a 12-5 advantage thanks to four Kelly kills and a pair of block assists. Lourdes responded with 8-of-10 points to make it a one-point contest before a Kelly kill, followed by a Yogi Hang ace, sparked a 6-0 MU run that all but sealed the match. A Kelly kill and a block assist from Greer and Jordyn Dawson extended MU's season.

MILESTONES TO WATCH
JERRY'S WORLD
-
"We talked before the game and told the team that they were playing for the right to continue and to leave it all on the court and they did that tonight. We created and maintained the tempo and pace of the game and played an attacking style of volleyball. We hit the ball hard, landed some strategic shots and played well from antenna to antenna. It was a great win tonight." - Head Coach Jerry Abraham
