No. 24 @MUCrusaderMSOC captures programs 300th win

PONTIAC, Mich.- The 24th-ranked Madonna University men's soccer team captured the programs 300th win in its 25th season with a 3-1 victory over Rochester College at the Ultimate Soccer Arena on Saturday afternoon. The win moved the Crusaders to 9-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Warriors fall to 4-8 on the year and 1-4 in league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Warriors got on the board first with a goal in the final minute of the first half, despite being outshot 12-3 in the period.

  • Madonna netted the equalizer in the 52nd minute as Wagner Gameiro Febbe shaped a ball in from the left side  and Costa Wells made a nice finish on the ball to tie the score.

  • Yuri Farkas Gugliemi netted the game-winner at 66:42 on a penalty kick which was drawn by Kyle Tinnion as he was taken down attempting to finish a nice cross from Ludvick Asigo.

  • Marlon De Freitas added some insurance in the 74th minute as he ran onto a nice through ball from Rodrigo Castro De Siqueira for the 3-1 win.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The Crusaders outshot the Warriors 25-4 in the contest which included a 15-1 edge in shots on goal

  • MU also had a 9-1 margin in corner kicks

  • Caio Mazzo Nagueria and Freitas paced the MU attack with four shots each and each put two on net

  • Gameiro Febbe added three shots, all on goal while four others added two shots each

  • Six other Crusaders tallied a shot in the contest

  • Rochester keeper made 12 saves in the game
