Playing Highlights:
  • Elected team captain as a senior(2001)
  • Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American (The nation’s oldest All-America squad)
  • First kick returner ever to be selected for the Walter Camp All-America Team
  • Led the NCAA in kickoff returns for three straight weeks, from Oct. 14-Nov. 3. 2001.
  • Haygood scored on kickoff returns of 84 yards vs. Northwestern and 100 yards vs. Iowa. He became the first player in Michigan State's 105-year football history to return kickoffs for scores in back-to-back games and his 100-yard run back against Iowa tied the Spartan record for longest return.
  • Drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos
  • Played for the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Europe's Scottish Claymore, Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes and the Tampa Bay Storm in the Arena Football League.
Personal Information:
  • A native of Sarasota, Florida, Herb, his wife Emily and their children Miles and Mason currently reside in Pittsfield Township, Michigan. In his free time Herb enjoys traveling and visiting parks, zoos and aquariums with his family.
