Crusaders Sweep Lourdes in Senior Day Doubleheader

LIVONIA, Mich. – Madonna softball celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion, sweeping Lourdes University with a 10–0 win in game one followed by a 16–7 victory in game two at University Field.

Prior to the doubleheader, the Crusaders honored their senior class of MacKenzie LaBuhn, Laci Harris, Peyton Lehman, Julia Rosas, Madilyn Beckwith, Avrey Wolverton, Elizabeth Savacool, Avery Beneteau, Jessica Dunkel, and Chelsea Weatherford for their contributions to the program.

In the opener, Madonna wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the first inning behind a two-run home run from Ashley Rosiewicz and an RBI single from Faith Cramton. The Crusaders added four more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Payden Whitmore to extend the lead to 7–0.

Madonna continued to build its advantage with a run in the third and two more in the fourth. Brynn Anteau and Faith Peschke each drove in runs as the Crusaders finished with 12 hits in the 10–0 run-rule victory.

Rosiewicz led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, including a home run and three RBIs. Regan Finkbeiner added two hits and scored three runs, while Anteau and Peschke each recorded two hits. Whitmore and Cramton also contributed multiple RBIs in the win.

In the circle, Camille Oyer was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out four to improve to 15–0 on the season.

GAME TWO:

Game two proved to be more competitive early, as Lourdes jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the first inning and extended it to 7–3 through three innings. Madonna responded behind a two-run home run from Cramton in the third to cut into the deficit.

The Crusaders took control in the fourth inning with a nine-run outburst. Rylee Fitzpatrick delivered a key two-RBI single, while Regan Finkbeiner added RBI production and Rosiewicz contributed with sacrifice flies as Madonna surged ahead.

Madonna added two more runs in the fifth inning, capped by a two-RBI double from Ella Thomas to secure the 16–7 victory.

Finkbeiner led the offense in game two with three hits and two RBIs, while Cramton finished with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs. Thomas added three RBIs, and Fitzpatrick drove in two runs off the bench. Anteau reached base multiple times and scored four runs in the win.

In the circle, Laci Harris got the start before Anna Battagin earned the win in relief. Sara Austin closed out the game to secure the victory.

With the sweep, Madonna improved to 39–4 on the season, celebrating its senior class with a strong all-around performance on both sides of the game.
