LIVONIA, Mich. - Coming off their four-game win streak the Crusaders (19-18, 14-7) would return home to face the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (21-14, 13-7). The Blue Devils would go on to shock the Crusaders with a pitcher who struck out nearly half the batters he faced, as their four-game streak of double-digit games came to an end. The Blue Devils went on to win 7-2 in game one, with game two of the series postponed due to weather concerns.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Blue Devil pitching staff would set the tone early that this game was not going to be a high-scoring affair as the Crusaders struggled to get a hit in the opening two innings, while the Blue Devils jumped ahead to an early 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Crusaders would get their first run of the day with a solo home run to left field from shortstop Kyle Revere.
Following the bright spot from Revere, the Blue Devils would get back on track, shutting down the Crusaders until the ninth inning. Second baseman Nick Krol would score the game's final run in the bottom of the ninth, but it would not be enough for a late-game rally as the Blue Devils went on to win 7-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Revere scored one run with a home run, his sixth of the year.
- Avain Rivera had the Crusaders' lone double.
- Cal Fornier went 1-of-3 with an RBI.
