LIVONIA, Mich. – Madonna University Women's Soccer took on the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils in a late afternoon matchup. The Crusaders were looking to extend their winning streak to three wins. After a hard-fought game, the Crusaders would end up settling for a 1-1 tie. The Crusaders were aggressive but ultimately could not put together another goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders' senior midfielder, Victoria Sia, capitalized on a prime opportunity in front with a free kick. The free kick, just outside the box to the left, snuck past the defenders attempting to block it and the ball found its way to the back of the goal. Later, at the 33:02 minute-mark, the Blue Devils' senior forward, Kathleen Ferguson, would find the ball amidst the scrum in front and bury the ball into the goal giving the Blue Devils their first goal and the tying goal in the game. The first half would end in a 1-1 tie.
At the start of the second half, both teams showed a hunger to deliver on the scoreboard. Throughout the second half, the Crusaders had glimpses of good opportunities but evidently could not find a way to the back of the goal. The game would end in a 1-1 tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Crusaders recorded 15 shots with six being registered on goal.
- Mackenzie Fifer secured two saves on 5 shots, only allowing one goal.
- Victoria Sia notched her fourth goal of the season which ties for team leading.
