LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University Women's Soccer Team took on the Indiana Tech Warriors on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders celebrated the seniors who help lead this team through the season. The Crusaders were able to put the cherry on top for senior day with a 1-0 win over the Warriors.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders welcomed into Livonia, Mich the Indiana Tech Warriors on senior day looking to take care of business. The Crusaders and Warriors both started strong with a back-and-forth battle trying to notch the first goal of the game. Scoring chances arose for both teams but no one could find the back of the goal in the first half.
During the second half all the fans were shown the same style of play from the Crusaders and Warriors as they continued to find scoring opportunities, but no dice. Then all of a sudden at the 67:18 minute mark, senior
Caroline Kopp cuts towards the middle of the box after receiving a pass from
Marlena Ballnik and buries the ball into the back of the net to give the Crusaders a 1-0 late into the game. The Crusaders would hold off the Warriors as the clock ran down to zero.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Crusaders recorded 15 shots with six shots being on goal.
- Crusader goaltender, Mackenzie Fifer had three saves on the day and secures a shutout.
- Carolina Kopp nets the game-winning goal and picks up her fourth goal of the season.
