Crusaders take down the Wolverines

DEARBORN, Mich. - On Saturday afternoon the Madonna women's soccer team (4-5-1, 2-2-0 WHAC) traveled to Dearborn, Mich. to take on WHAC opponent the University of Michigan-Dearborn (1-7-2, 1-3-0 WHAC). The Crusaders would take down the Wolverines 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders and Wolverines faced off in a much needed conference win for the Crusaders to get them to .500 in the conference and in position to crack the top five in the conference. This game featured plenty of shots from both teams but saw excellent goalie work from both teams. The first and only goal came in the first half in the 37th minute off the foot of Vitoria Sia assisted by Nadine Jawad for Sia's third goal of the season which led to halftime with a 1-0 lead for the Crusaders.

In the second half, the Wolverines looked to make a push as they totaled six shots in the second half but Mackenzie Fifer would stand tall in net totaling seven saves with four of them coming in the second half. The Crusaders also got off nine shots in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net but it would not matter as the Crusader defense would hold the Wolverines scoreless and walk away with a 1-0 win.
