GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Madonna women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over Cornerstone University on Saturday afternoon. The win brings the Crusaders to 9-6-1 overall and 6-3 in WHAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders looked to get back into the win column after being shut out on Wednesday afternoon and were able to do just that against the Golden Eagles. In the 35th minute, Sara Castillo was the one to score first for the Crusaders off the assist from Gabriella Sapia which would put the Crusaders up 1-0 heading into halftime. In the second half the Crusaders would strike again late as Molly Cote would add an insurance goal in the 88th minute, unassisted. But the Golden Eagles had some fight left as they would score in the 90th minute to get a final of 2-1 and a victory for the Crusaders.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• The final shot total ended up being 9-7 in favor of the Golden Eagles. 
• Sapia led the Crusaders with two shots. 
• Veronica Kozak made four saves in goal for the Crusaders.
