LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer team came out with a 3-0 victory at home against Concordia University on Wednesday evening. The win improves the Crusaders record to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2 in the WHAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out attacking in the opening half, and controlled a majority of the game offensively. The Crusaders were able to keep possession in Cardinal territory for most of the game and found themselves in a lot of great offensive opportunities. The Crusaders scored their first goal of the game in the 33rd minute off the foot of Gabriella Sapia on a shot from about 25 yards out. The Crusaders would go into halftime with a 1-0 lead. 

The Crusaders came into the second half looking to keep control of the game and they did just that. The ball hardly left the Cardinals end in the second half as the Crusaders would outshoot the Cardinals in the second half alone 12-1. The Crusaders second goal would come early in the second half from Karina Arnold off of a free kick from Mia Wolfbauer in the 48th minute. With the 2-0 lead, the Crusaders were not done yet as Vitoria Sia would score in the 68th minute off an assist by Holly McManus. That would prove to be the final goal of the game as the Crusaders would take the 3-0 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• The Crusaders out shot the Cardinals 21-5. 
• Morgan Stack would lead the team in shots with 6.
• Sapia's goal was the first of her career with the Crusaders.
• The Crusaders would total 9 shots on goal.

Madonna will be back at home on Saturday, October 14th as they take on Rochester University.  Kick off is set for 10:00 AM.
