LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's women's soccer team continued Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Wednesday afternoon as they hosted Concordia University Ann Arbor and came away with a 3-1 victory. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders were on the attack early once again, at the 1:51 mark they were rewarded a corner kick. Grace Thomas sent the ball into the box where Mary Philimona was able to get her head on the ball but Abby Werthman was able to get her foot on the ball off the rebound for the first score of the game. 

Madonna was able to keep the pressure up all game long with timely substitutions. At the 24:37 mark, Melanie Porter checked into the game and not even a minute later she was able to lay the ball off to Megan Verant who then buried it into the bottom left corner. 

Near the end of the first half, the Crusader's 44 unanswered goal streak was snapped, as the Cardinals were able to score. 

In the second half, the Crusaders kept the pressure dialed up as they were able to get 10 shots off. At the 72:54 mark they were able to put the nail in the coffin when Melanie Porter crossed the ball into the box and thanks to some miscommunication by the Cardinals, Morgan Stack was able to tap in the goal to make it 3-1.

• The Crusaders unanswered goal streak came to an end at 44
• The Crusaders would win the shot battle 28-1, and the shot on goal 16-1

The Crusaders will play their second straight home game this Saturday, October 2 against Lawrence Technological University at the Madonna Athletic Complex. Kickoff will be at 11:00 a.m.
