LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's women's soccer team continued Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play late Saturday morning as they hosted Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) and came away with a 2-0 victory. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders were very aggressive early to start the match, sixteen seconds into the game Megan Verant was able to go up for a header in the box but LTU's keeper was above to make the early save.

At the 3:12 mark of the game, Mary Philimona dribbled the ball down to the right corner, passed it back to Grace Thomas. Thomas crossed it into the box and Verant yet again was able to go up for a header, but this time was able to find the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Before you could even blink, Morgan stack was running down the left side of the field, stopped on a dime, crossed it into the box where Thomas took a touch and was able to score making it 2-0 in the 5th minute. 

The Crusaders would have plenty of more chances as they finished with 29 shots and 14 on goal but unfortunately did not see any go into the net. 


INSIDE THE NUMBERS
 

• Verant scored her 11th goal of the season.
• Thomas scored her 5th goal and her 6th assist on the season.   

UP NEXT

The Crusaders will hit the road this Wednesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. against Indiana Tech at the Warrior Athletic Field.
