Crusader’s Drop Match to Pilots

Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind.-- The Madonna University Men's Soccer team traveled to Indiana for a match up against the Pilots of Bethel University on Saturday afternoon, dropping the match 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bethel controlled the ball to start the game, with four shots on goal including a goal to put them up 1-0 in the 17th minute. The Crusaders would go on the attack and get a couple of scoring opportunities in the first half. At the 23:37 mark Issei Ito had a shot on goal that was saved, followed up two minutes later, Wagner Gamerio had a shot that went off the post. 

Neither team was able to put the ball in the net despite multiple solid attempts by both sides. It was not until the second half at the 63:10 mark when Bethel broke the drought and went up 2-0. The Pilots' nail in the coffin came less than three minutes after their second goal to make it 3-0 at the 65:53 mark.

  • The Pilots would win the shots battle 12-3 over Madonna and the shots on goal 7-1.
  • Madonna's keeper Youssou Ouendeno would make a couple quality saves and finished with four saves on the day

The Crusaders will be on the road next Wednesday, September 15 at 5:00 p.m. where they'll do battle with Grace College (Ind.) in Winona Lake, Indiana.
