Crusaders grab both final WHAC Player of the Week of season

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their final players of the week for women's soccer on Monday afternoon and the Crusaders earned both the offensive and defensive awards this week. Megan Verant was named the offensive player of the week, while Alex Thomas was named defensive player of the week. 

Verant, a junior from Livonia, scored the game-winning goal in the Conference Championship against Aquinas College (Mich.) in the 92nd minute of the game. Throughout the week Verant led the team in shots with nine through the two games against Aquinas and University of Northwestern Ohio. This is Verant's third WHAC player of the week award.

Thomas, a sophomore from Farmington Hills, played stellar in goal against back-to-back Top 20 teams in Aquinas and UNOH. Throughout the two games last week she collected 12 saves and only allowed one goal in 182 minutes in net. This is Thomas' secondWHAC player of the week award.

The Crusaders will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Opening Round tournament and will face off against the Redhawks of Martin Methodist College (Tenn.) which begins with a 3 PM kickoff.
