HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was pretty even throughout the first half as both teams had solid opportunities in each half of the field.
- Cornerstone struck first in the game in the ninth minute of the game when Kylie Adams headed the ball into the bottom right corner off of a corner kick.
- The Crusaders looked as if they had tied the game in the 25th minute back was called off due to a Madonna offside.
- Madonna would end up tying it up in the final minute of the half when Julieann White missed a shot, but Grace Thomas was right there to put the ball into the back of the net to tie it up.
- The only action the second half, as the game went into overtime, saw were a couple solid shots that were just missed from Madonna's Abby Werthman and Sydnie Voss as they were able to get solid shots off but not in net.
- Madonna once again controlled the overtime period but in the 100th minute of the game the defense had a hand ball which gave the Golden Eagles the opportunity for a free kick from 30 yards out near the sideline. Mya Capado took the kick and put it just high enough and out of reach for the Crusaders goalie to save for the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Crusaders would dominate the shots column as they were able to outshoot the Golden Eagles 25-4 overall and 10-3 in shots on net.
