LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer team returned home for a match against 18th ranked Cumberland University. The Crusaders won the game by a final score of 2-0 which marks their third straight win. The Blue and Gold improve to 4-1-1 on the season while Cumberland falls to 4-2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Crusaders set the offensive tone early as they kept the ball in the attacking side of the field for the majority of the first half
• In the 29th minute, the Crusaders had a corner kick from Grace Thomas that was a perfect ball to Karina Arnold who put it past the goalie to go up 1-0 
• The second half began quickly as the Crusaders scored within the first five minutes of the half as Megan Verant was able to kick the ball just over the top of the goalie's hands on a nice pass from Melanie Porter
• The Crusaders were able to rattle off more shots throughout the second half and kept the ball mainly in the attacking zone
• Brooke Bruletti and Alex Thomas combined to get the second straight shutout for the Crusaders. While neither goalie had a save while they 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Crusaders are now 2-1 all-time against the Phoenix
• The Crusaders dominated the shot column as they outshot the Wolves 16-1 with also leading shot on goal with 7-0
• Arnold goal's today was the first of her young Crusader career
• Eight total Crusaders tallied a shot in the contest
