GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Madonna University men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 victory over Cornerstone University at the CU Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening. 

The Crusaders have now improved to 11-3-3 overall and a 8-2-1 conference record, While the Golden Eagles have fallen to 2-14-2 overall and 1-9-1 in the conference play. 

The Crusaders have secured a home conference playoff game but will have to wait to see who they will face next Saturday. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first half started with both teams going back and forth but then in the 28 minute Rodrigo Castro de Siqueira was able to get a ball past the goalie for the first half 1-0 lead. 
• In the 38th minute the scoring continued as Caio Mazzo Nogueira was able to head the ball in off of a corner from Bruno Piva de Castro for the 2-0 lead
• The second half, the Crusaders were able to get more shots off but were not able to extend the lead any further.  
• Smith accounted two saves on the day while the Golden Eagles goalie tallied five.

INSIDE THE BOX

• The Crusaders outshot the Racers 12-9 over the course of the game and 7-2 in shots on goal.
• The Blue and Gold tallied four corner kicks opposed to two for the Golden Eagles
• Six Crusaders tallied a shot while Siqueira and Leonardo Gois Abonizio both had three shots a piece and two shots on goal. 

UP NEXT

• The Crusaders will return home on Saturday, November 9 with a 2 PM kickoff. Who the Crusaders will play will be determined on Tuesday.
