LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna Crusaders women's soccer team faced off for sole position of second place in the conference on Saturday when they matched up against the Saints of #RV Aquinas College. The game was close all the way until the final buzzer but the Saints prevailed in the end for the 1-0 victory. 

The Crusaders have now fallen to 12-3-1 record and 7-2 in the conference, while the Saints improve to 13-2-1 on the season and 8-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams were able to get off shots in the early part of the first half. 
• The Saints got on the board first in the 34th minute when Alex Thomas came out to the left of the goal to try and stop but Raegan Radez made a short cross to Fillippa Struxsjo for the lone goal of the game.
• Even with the second half being played mostly in the rain the Crusaders were able to get some quality shots off that the Saints goalie made saves on. With a shot from Melanie Porter in the 62nd minute being the closest the Crusaders were able to get.
• All of the shots on goal attempts for both teams were quality shots as it was a close match all the way through.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Crusaders are now 22-15-5 all-time against the Saints
• The shot column was close as the Crusaders were edged out 7-5 in shots, but with both teams getting three shots on goal
• Five Crusaders tallied a shot in the contest
• The Crusaders led in corner kicks by a tally of 4-2
• This is the first time the Crusaders have been shutout since Sep. 4th against University of Detroit Mercy

• The Crusaders will stay at home as they will face off against the No. 3 team in the country in the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday Oct. 29 with a 3 PM kickoff.
