SYLVANIA, Ohio - The Madonna Crusaders women's soccer team traveled just across the border into Ohio, to face off against Lourdes University, to continue the hot streak of soccer that they have been playing as of late. They came into today's game on a four-game win streak and left extending that streak to five with a 3-0 victory.

The Crusaders, with the win, have improved their record to 12-2-1 record and 7-1 in the conference, while the Gray Wolves fall to 8-6 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams were able to get off shots in the early part of the first half. 
• The Crusaders got the scoring started in the game in the 22nd minute as Melanie Porter was able to get a cross from Megan Verant for the 1-0 lead.
• The next score came in the 53 minute when Grace Thomas was able to get off a long shot that went into the back of the net as it was just a little too high for the goalie to save. 
• The final goal of the game came in the 86th minute when Katie Fetherolf put in a header off a corner kick from Destiny Carr for the 3-0 lead and the final score
• Alex Thomas recorded the teams ninth shutout on the season for the Crusaders. With six out of the last seven games ending in a shutout. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Crusaders are now 5-0-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves
• The Crusaders dominated the shot column as they outshot the Gray Wolves 27-7 with also leading shot on goal with 16-6
• Eleven total Crusaders tallied a shot in the contest
• Verant and Mary Philimona led the game with four shots apiece. With Verant leading shots on goal with three
• Thomas had a career high six saves in the match today
