@MUCrusadersWSOC picks up 4-0 win against the Cougars

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna Crusaders women's soccer team came into today's game having won eight of its last nine games. They extended that streak to nine out of ten games. The game ended in a 4-0 victory for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders have improved their record to 10-2-1 record and 5-1 in the conference, while the Cougars fall to 4-8 on the season and 1-5 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game was even until the 11th minute when Grace Thomas got a short pass from Jamie Moceri that she was able to sneak past the goalie for a 1-0 lead
  • Not long after in the 20th minute Megan Verant was able to break away from the Cougar defense to score her first goal of the day. 
  • The second half began quickly as in the 48th minute Megan Verant was able to score her second goal of the game as the goalie misplayed the ball and Verant took a shot that was deflected off the Cougar defense.
  • The final goal of the game came in the 62nd minute when Melanie Porter got a nice ball from Megan Verant that she was able to get past the defense to get the 4-0 lead.
  • Alex Thomas was solid yet again in goal as she recorded her fourth shutout in the past five games while also recording four saves on the day.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Crusaders are now 7-0 all-time against the Cougars
  • The Crusaders dominated the shot column as they outshot the Cougars 13-5 with also leading shot on goal with 8-4
  • Nine total Crusaders tallied a shot in the contest
  • Verant led the game with four shots (three on goal) and Thomas had two shots (one on goal) to lead the team
  • The Crusaders now have eight shutouts on the day as they now have three straight

  • The Crusaders will continue conference play on Saturday, October 19 at 12 PM when they will travel to University of Michigan - Dearborn
