PONTIAC, Mich. - The Madonna University women's soccer team extended their winning streak to three with a whomping 9-0 victory against Rochester College on Saturday night in Pontiac. HOW IT HAPPENED
-
FIRST HALF
-
After outshooting the Warriors 11-1 in the first 19 minutes of play, the Crusaders opened the scoring off the foot of Sierra Nissan thanks to a well placed cross from Alexis Bozinovski that found Nissan alone in front.
-
Just minutes later in the 25th minute, Bozinovski once again dribbled with speed from the right side and beat the keeper just under the crossbar for a 2-0 Blue and Gold lead.
-
After a cross that was cleared by the Rochester defense, the ball landed on the foot of Cristina Moraccini who blasted a shot past the keeper from just outside the box for a 3-0 Crusaders lead at the half.
-
SECOND HALF
-
Jamie Moceri added another quick goal just three minutes into the half before Julia Henning won the ball about 25 yards out and shot up and over the RC keeper for a 5-0 lead in the 48th minute.
-
Moceri's offensive attack did not stop there as she scored three more goals in the 50th, 62nd, and 77th  minute increasing the Crusaders lead to 8-0.
-
With under five minutes remaining, Alexandra Sherlock scored her first varsity goal as she headed home a cross from Moceri for a 9-0 Crusaders' lead. Â
INSIDE THE BOX
-
Moceri's four goals in the contest placed her in a tie for second in the history books for most goals scored in a game, second to only Ashley Parent who scored five against Lawrence Tech in 2012. Her nine points are also tied for the second most in a single game with Kelly Japowicz.Â
-
The Crusaders outshot the Warriors 41-29, putting 29 shots on frame compared to Rochester's five.
-
Julia Stewart notched another shutout with five saves in 90:00 minutes of play while the Rochester keeper tallied 20 saves in the contest.
-
The Blue and Gold attempted 10 corner kicks throughout the game, withholding the Warriors from attempting any.
-
Moraccini and Moceri paced the Crusaders offense with a combined 13 shots (12 on goal), while 12 other Crusaders attempted shots in the contest.
