ALMA, Mich.- In a thrilling soccer battle held at Scotland Yard in Alma, MI, the Madonna University Crusaders faced a narrow defeat by the Alma Scots with a final score of 2-3 on September 14, 2025. This regular season face-off saw both teams locked at a 2-2 tie by halftime but ultimately swayed in favor of Alma by the final whistle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game kicked off with Alma's Emily Ahearn scoring the initial goal, setting a competitive tone. Madonna responded robustly, with Nadine Jawad and Alessia Di Nino putting the Crusaders ahead with their striking goals, while Lillian Hayter contributed with an assist. However, the Scots' resilience shone through as Ava Hoffman, assisted by Ivy Beall, equalized the score before the break. The second period heightened the drama as Aaleyah Marcellus netted the decisive goal for Alma, determining the day's victors.

In goal, Madonna's Mackenzie Paul and Alma's Mya Pofahl were pivotal, each playing crucial roles for their teams. Despite the loss, standout performances from Jawad and Di Nino, alongside Hayter's key assist, were recognized highlights for the Crusaders.
