PREVIEW: 2022 Season Opener

LIVONIA, Mich.- The Madonna Women's soccer team will host Point Park University to start the 2022 campaign at the Madonna Athletic Complex on Saturday August 27th at 11:00 a.m. 
The Crusaders are coming off a strong 13-2-2 season last year while also going 7-1-2 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). The Crusaders came out on top in the matchup last year, winning 4-0, and are undefeated (4-0-0) in the all-time series against the Pioneers. 

SCOUTING POINT PARK

The Park Point Pioneers went 8-8-3 overall last year with a 6-2-3 record in the River States Conference. They enter play with new head coach Kelly Raddar who was most recently with St. Joseph's University (N.Y.).  Point Park is returning with the statistically top 2 performers from last year in TaMaya Wolford and Nola McGuire. Wolford led the team in goals and assists last season as a freshman with 6 goals and 5 assists. McGuire was right behind her scoring 4 goals and 2 assists last season.

SCOUTING MADONNA

The Madonna Crusaders are led by head coach Paul Patton who is entering his 6th season. The Crusaders are led by top goal scorer Abby Werthman who had 12 goals last season. Returning in goal this year will be Brooke Bruletti who started 8 games last season with 21 saves, and six shutouts on the year. The Crusaders will also be looking for strong returning play from second team all conference player Grace Pabian and all-freshman team player Vitoria Sia.

UP NEXT

After the game Saturday the Crusaders will be on the road for their next two games as they will travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to play the University of Pikeville on September 2nd and Thomas More University on September 4th.
