PULASKI, Tenn.– The Madonna University women's soccer team traveled to Tennessee for a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Opening Round matchup against the Redhawks from Martin Methodist College. 

The Redhawks came into this matchup as the top seed in this opening round bracket and the fourth overall seed in the tournament. Madonna is the fourth seed in this opening round bracket, and is the 34th overall seed. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Despite a few Madonna chances in the first 15 minutes of the game, Martin Methodist struck first in the 17th minute of the game when Adisa Amang received a pass from Estelle Badoedana Ekada and got it just past the hands of Crusaders goalie Alex Thomas. Amang would score her second goal of the game in the 35th minute off of some Crusader miscommunication.
• Madonna would be down 2-0 at the half, but would score 12 minutes later when they were able to get multiple shots off and Crusaders player Mary Philimona was able to finish it off for the Crusaders as they would get the score back to within one. 
• Martin Methodist would add two goals though over the next 20 minutes to put the score up to a three goal game as Amang would earn the hat trick on the first goal and get credited with an assist on the second goal from Mackenzie Stroebel.
• The Crusaders though would not give up as Sydnie Voss would knock the ball in from just outside the box and beat the keeper to the opposite side of the net to pull to within two.
• Amang would once again strike and put the nail in the coffin for the Crusaders as she would score her fourth of the game as she beat Thomas to the far side on a cross.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• The Redhawks outshot the Crusaders 25-17 in overall shots and 12-7 in shots on goal.
• Thomas made seven saves in goal today for the Crusaders.
• Six Crusaders got on the scoresheet with shots as they were led by Philimona with six.

SENIOR FAREWELL

• The Crusaders will be sending off six seniors who played their final game in a Madonna uniform following the game today. Emma Werthman, Alyssa Benvenuti, Nicolette Vultaggio, Jenna Landrith, Rachel Rubio, and Julianna George will all be graduating this coming May. 
• Vultaggio leaves the Crusaders at No. 3 on the Crusaders all-time scoring list with 46 goals.
