LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's Women's Soccer team began postseason play as they hosted No.7  seed Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament Quarterfinals where they would fall in 2OT 2-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders were tested early as LTU came out strong, in the first 53 seconds the Blue Devils already had a shot on goal. However, the game was scoreless until the 42nd minute where Morgan Stack sent a cross into the box where Abby Werthman jumped up and headed it into the top right corner to make it 1-0 right before the half ended. 

In the second half, Madonna looked like their usual selves. The Crusaders had 11 shots and five shots on goal in the second half, but none found the back of the net. Crusaders led 1-0 for the majority of the half until the 77th minute when the ball was bouncing around in the box and LTU was able to score, tying the game 1-1. 

This game would eventually go to overtime and in the first half of overtime, both defenses shined as they were not shots even attempted. In the second 10 minutes of overtime, LTU was rewarded a corner kick in the 104th minute, and once again, the ball bouncing around in the box would lead to a golden goal and LTU would upset Madonna 2-1 in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinals

The Crusaders will await their fate as they see if they will get an at-large bid for the NAIA Tournament. The selection show is Monday, November 15 at noon, fans will be able to watch the announcement on the NAIA Facebook page.
